Friends of the library members volunteer to deliver library materials to house-bound people.

Eligibility

Any resident of the Town of Georgina who is physically unable to visit the library for a period of more than one month may apply this may include senior citizens, developmentally disabled, people recently discharged from hospital, and house-bound mother, etc.

Library Materials Available: include books, large print books, magazines, interlibrary loan books, cassettes, talking books.

Registration

Requires only a telephone call to the visiting library co-ordinator who will arrange for a volunteer to initiate the service.

Volunteers always welcome. If you are interested in provided library service to those members of the community who are unable to visit the library please give us a call.  After an informal interview with the library co-ordinator volunteers will be matched with compatible clients and trained in pertinent library procedures (2-5 hours). A time frame of about 2 hours per client is expected (included the choosing and checking out of books and the client visit).

A commitment of six months is required by volunteers to ensure continuity of service. Volunteers must have their own means of transportation.
