The Belhaven Hotel
Beginning in 1825, spotty wagon stage service began from York to Georgina Township. The eventual line ran from York to Newmarket, Belhaven and Beaverton. Travellers hauling goods and grains over the rough road often stayed the night at the Belhaven Hotel, built by Mr. Bovair, and operated by Willy Culverwell.
Culverwell eventually obtained the hotel and it became known as the Culverwell Hotel. It burned down in 1895.
