Sheppard Cemetery
The Sheppard Cemetery, also known as Boyers Road Cemetery is located in the Town of Georgina, formerly North Gwillimbury Township - Conc. 3, Lot 20, on the south side of Boyers Road, between the Queensway North and Woodbine Ave. Northeast of Keswick.
One half acre of land was donated by Joseph Sheppard in 1860. The sire already contained a Weleyan Methodist Church and this church appears on Assessment Rolls until 1892 with Isaac Marritt as the trustee.
The earliest burial known is of Caroline Sheppard, wife of Joseph Sheppard, who died August 24, 1866 aged 59 years, 5 months, 11 days. No old registers have been located.
The most recent report of burials for Sheppard Cemetery were found at the United Church Archives in Toronto in the only Registry of Baptismal, Marriages and Burials in the Archives possession Keswick Churches. The first entry in this registry is a burial on May 3, 1926 and the following two entries for burials are the only entries for Sheppard Cemetery in this Registry.
