About the Georgina Centre for Arts and Culture

The Georgina Centre for Arts and Culture offers a variety of artistic and cultural experiences and an opportunity to explore and expand our public perceptions of art and culture as a part of community and life in Georgina. The mission is to promote creativity, learning and growth and to inspire passion and appreciation for the arts and culture. Located in the heart of downtown Sutton, the centre is a gathering place that engages the community and is the cornerstone of arts and culture in Georgina. The centre is the proud home to an outstanding permanent collection of fine art and beautiful Gallery that welcomes everyone. There is a gallery shop that sells unique and original pieces created by artists and artisans in the community. The GCAC is proud to support local and emerging talent and welcomes creatives of all ages to come explore, build community and most of all...create!

Classes and workshops

Basic Macrame Drop-in Workshop

Weekly on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from Tuesday, June 4, 2024 to Friday, June 28, 2024 
1 p.m. to 3 p.m. 
 
Participants will be able to drop in and learn some macrame techniques with Nasrin and walk away with their own planter hanger from the skills they learned. All materials will be provided, and children under 15 must be supervised by an adult. Drop-in times: every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for the month of June. Fee: $45 per person, with no need to pay ahead of time.

Encaustic Painting Weekend with Ann Shier

Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Join a group of fellow painters for an exciting weekend intensive to learn the techniques of encaustic painting with Ann Shier. This workshop will cover the encaustic techniques of glazing, sculpting, painting, photo encaustic, photo transfers, collage, stenciling, stamping. All electrical equipment and wax are provided. NO previous painting experience necessary.

Summer Camp

Summer Art Camp for Kids

Every week in July and August (July 8 to August 23, with different themes each week)
Have you registered your little one for summer camp yet? The GCAC is offering weekly sessions starting July 8th with each week featuring a different theme to spark the imaginations and creativity of the kids. 

Note there are 7 sessions between July 8 and August 23, you can sign up for each week individually.
