2024 park improvements

West Park and Udora Park

Playgrounds at West Park and Udora Park were replaced in 2024.

The new playgrounds feature creative and interactive designs for play spaces that are fun and engaging for the whole community. Playground equipment are inclusive and accessible. Some of the new playground equipment pieces include:

  • Composite structure with slides and climbing features
  • New swings
  • Curbed protective surface with engineered wood fibre
  • An accessible walkway to the playground

2023 park improvements

Bayview Park

The Bayview Park was updated in the spring 2023. The improvements included an interactive design with a high level of inclusivity and accessibility. Some of the new accessible playground equipment pieces:

  • Composite structure with slides and climbing features
  • New swings
  • Curbed protective surface with engineered wood fibre

Funding for these improvements comes from Resolution c-2021-0300.

Gwendolyn Park

Trails

Georgina offers a range of trail experiences and places to discover. These trails provide opportunities to explore your local neighbourhood and discover nearby natural areas. 

The majority of the Town of Georgina’s trails are multi-use, which are suitable for walking, hiking, jogging and cycling. Trail terrain ranges from compact gravel surfaces to asphalt sections through local neighbourhoods and community parks.

Can I bring my dog to the park or on the trails?

Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash unless in designated off-leash areas. Please clean up after your pet.

Are motorized vehicles allowed on trails?

No, motorized vehicles such as ATVs and dirt bikes are not permitted on trails for safety and environmental reasons.

Can I have a barbecue?

Barbecues are not allowed in Georgina’s parks unless you have a special event permit.

Can I smoke or vape in the parks?

Smoking and vaping are not permitted in Georgina’s parks, beaches or playground areas in accordance with local bylaws.

Can I have a campfire in a park?

Open fires are not allowed in parks.

Are there washrooms on site?

Some parks have seasonal washroom facilities. Portable washrooms may also be available in select locations.

What do I do if I find a discarded needle at a park or playground?

If you come across a discarded needle, it's important to handle the situation carefully to ensure everyone's safety. Do not touch the needle with your bare hands. Instead, use gloves, tongs or a similar tool to pick it up, place it in a hard plastic container, and seal it tightly. Once secured, take it to a York Region waste depot or use a designated sharps disposal container.
