Overview
The Town is working on design standards that will look at ways to improve our streetscapes in Business Improvement Areas (BIA’s) in Keswick, Pefferlaw, Jackson’s Point and Sutton. Streetscapes are urban roadway designs that influence the way a street is used by both motorists and pedestrians serving as important gateways to various areas of our community.
Streetscaping recognizes that streets are public places where people engage in various activities not just limited to motor vehicle travel. Improved streetscaping elements can include such items as street furniture, trees, road crossing sections and open spaces. All can be integrated to help form the street’s character.

Public engagement
Public engagement is an important component of the process helping to determine which elements should be considered for each Business Improvement Area. Town staff and the consultant attended a number of public events in 2019 to discuss the streetscape. A survey was provided at these events, as well as online.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in the public engagement opportunities.
