The Town of Georgina Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), David Reddon has announced that he will retire from the Town of Georgina effective immediately. Mr. Reddon has been the CAO since 2019. Dave began his career with the Town of Georgina in 1981 and has fulfilled various roles throughout his career for the organization.
“Over the last several months I have had the opportunity to reflect on my more than 40 years with the Town of Georgina. I have watched our town grow and change and it has been so rewarding to be a part of the ongoing transformation. I am extremely thankful to the many colleagues, Council and community members that I have had the pleasure of working with over the past 40 years. As both a staff member and resident of Georgina, I am proud of all of our accomplishments and I am excited for the Town as it moves forward with many exciting new initiatives” said Mr. Reddon.
“Upon reflection and many difficult discussions, I have decided that now is my time to spend the future with my family and enjoy my retirement. Although the pandemic recovery is underway, we are not out of the woods yet. It continues to be important to me to keep everyone safe and I have decided to quietly retire. I expect I will cross paths with many of you in the months and years to come,” said Mr. Reddon.
Mayor Margaret Quirk stated, “On behalf of Council, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Dave for his leadership, mentorship and vision throughout his 40-plus year career with the Town of Georgina. Dave’s leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic is the most recent example of his commitment to Georgina and its residents and we all thank him for his dedication. Dave’s legacy will continue long after his retirement and we wish him well in his retirement and this next stage of his life. Town Council will be discussing the plan to fill this vital leadership role as we move forward to ensure effective, strong leadership for the Town of Georgina into the future.”
