The Town is developing the 2024 budget and wants to hear from you. Georgina passes a budget every year to determine how funds are given out throughout the community. Tax dollars go towards a variety of programs and services which your family relies on and uses every day – from road work and water and wastewater improvements to snow clearing and recreation programs.
The Town is inviting residents to get involved in the budget process and provide feedback:
- Visit georgina.ca/budget to take the online survey beginning Sept. 5, 2023. Tell us how your tax dollars should be invested by completing the online survey and be entered to win a $100 Visa gift card. The contest is open to Georgina residents and business owners who are 18 years of age or older. Town staff are not eligible to participate.
- Hard copies of the budget survey will be available at the Civic Centre, all three branches of Georgina Public Library and the Link from Sept. 5 to 19. They will also be available at the Farmers’ Market on Sunday, Sept. 10.
- Two public input sessions will be held –
- Sunday, Sept. 10 – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Georgina Farmers’ Market
- Tuesday, Sept. 12 – 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. – Council Chamber at the Civic Centre
- Provide feedback via email to budget@georgina.ca by submitting ideas, comments or questions.
Public input is a vital component to the budget process. The deadline for the survey is Sept. 19, 2023 and the results will be included as part of the draft budget presented to Council on Oct. 25.
