LSRCA Watershed conditions statement – flood outlook

The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority advises that warmer weather and rain is forecast for Friday morning through Saturday evening. Daytime temperatures for Friday are expected to climb to 10 degrees and overnight temperatures will remain above freezing. The forecast is currently calling for 25-30 mm of rain accumulation for Friday through Saturday.

While widespread flooding is not expected, the possibility for flooding in various low-lying areas of the watershed exists due to the expected rainfall and melting of the snowpack. Watercourses will be flowing at higher-than-normal levels, causing local streams and rivers to become dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts and bridges. Children should be warned to stay away from all watercourses.

This watershed conditions statement will be in effect through Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023.
