Town appoints new Deputy CAO

The Town of Georgina is pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Wheater as Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)/Treasurer, effective immediately.

“Mr. Wheater brings significant leadership strengths and a strong history of delivering results to this position,” said Ryan Cronsberry, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). “He is a well-respected member of the senior leadership team and will work with me to ensure accountability relating to the delivery of Council priorities, and financial and staff management.”

Mr. Wheater’s portfolio will include tax and revenue, financial planning, financial operations and information technology.

Rob Wheater started at the Town in 2015 in Finance as the budget accountant. He was promoted to Treasurer in 2017 and became Director of Corporate Services/Treasurer in 2018. He holds an honours bachelor of commerce degree from Ryerson University, is a chartered professional accountant and has an executive diploma in municipal management from the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario. Mr. Wheater grew up in Georgina and is a resident.

“I am honoured to be given the opportunity to serve the Town of Georgina as Deputy CAO,” said Rob Wheater, Deputy CAO/Treasurer. “I’m excited to work with Ryan Cronsberry, our CAO, along with Council, the senior leadership team and staff to deliver on Council’s priorities as we continue to work through the pandemic while at the same time planning for the future needs of our growing community.”

The Deputy CAO is the second most senior member of staff supporting the CAO and senior leadership in the implementation of Council direction and initiatives on corporate-wide matters.
