Town of Georgina to follow provincial regulations on lifting proof of vaccination requirements and capacity limits

In response to the provincial announcement on Feb. 14, 2022, the Town of Georgina plans to lift some public health measures at indoor recreation facilities. Effective March 1, 2022, proof of vaccination will no longer be required and capacity limits will be lifted. Face coverings in indoor public settings and maintaining physical distancing remains in place, with exceptions for people participating in specific recreation programs.

Patrons visiting any Georgina facility are encouraged to conduct a self-health assessment for COVID-19 symptoms before entering the building. Anyone who is experiencing symptoms are asked not to visit the facility until their symptoms have subsided.

The vaccination clinic, run by York Region Public Health, and located at the Georgina Ice Palace, remains open Thursday to Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. for appointments and walk-ins. Walk-in capacity is limited per day. Residents are reminded to be prepared to wait and to dress for the weather. To book an appointment and find more information, visit york.ca/covid19vaccine. The vaccine clinic is scheduled to close on March 27, 2022.

The GO-VAXX bus will be in Georgina on March 11 at the Pefferlaw Lions Hall, located at 38 Pete’s Lane, from noon to 8 p.m. offering first, second and booster doses. It is by appointment or walk-in while supplies last. For more information and to book an appointment, visit ontario.ca/vaccinebus.
