The Town is looking for volunteers for boards and committees

Council is inviting residents to volunteer in the community as a member on one of the following boards or committees. All appointments are for the 2022-2026 Term of Council. Current Town board and committee members are encouraged to apply.

The Georgina Public Library Board (PLB)
The Georgina Public Library Board regulates all matters connected with the governance of all library branches in Georgina, including library property and provides a comprehensive and efficient public library service that reflects the community’s unique needs, as described in the Public Libraries Act.

The Georgina Accessibility Advisory Committee (GAAC)
The role of the Georgina Accessibility Advisory Committee is to provide vision and recommendations to Council and staff regarding the removal of barriers that exist to persons with disabilities, within our municipal services, facilities, practices and programs, and to review site plans upon request.

Committee of Adjustment (COA)
The Committee of Adjustment (COA) is appointed by Council pursuant to the provisions of the Planning Act to deal with applications to sever parcels of land and minor variances. The COA hears applications to sever land, also known as a ‘consent’ through public meetings and makes decisions keeping in mind the proper and orderly development of the municipality. The COA also hears applications submitted by an owner of land requesting a minor variance to the provisions of the Town’s zoning bylaw, in respect of the land, building or structure or the use on land. The approval of an application may be subject to such terms and conditions as the committee considers advisable.

The Georgina Property Standards Committee (GPSC)

When the owner or occupant of a property in Georgina, upon whom an order has been served by a municipal law enforcement officer, is not satisfied with the terms or conditions of the order, the owner or occupant may appeal to the Property Standards Committee. The Georgina Property Standards Committee, in hearing appeals, has all the powers and functions of the officer who made the order and the committee may do any of the following things if, in the committee’s opinion, doing so would maintain the general intent and purpose of the Town’s bylaw and of the official plan or policy statement:

  1. Confirm, modify or rescind the order to demolish or repair.
  2. Extend the time for complying with the order.
