Watershed Conditions Statement - Flood Outlook

The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority advises that significant rainfall is forecast for today in our watershed with showers and thunderstorms expected this evening. Environment Canada has issued a Special weather statement for the Barrie area, with predicted rainfall accumulations of 30-50mm (higher amounts possible) by Wednesday morning.

Other areas of the watershed have predicted rainfall accumulations of 20-25mm. Higher amounts of rainfall may occur in localized areas as a result of thunderstorm activity.

The forecasted rainfall may result in flooding of low-lying areas.  All watercourses in our area will experience higher than normal water levels and flows. As a result, local streams and rivers will become dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts and bridges. Children should be warned to stay away from all watercourses.

This Watershed Conditions Statement will be in effect through Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021. For further information, contact Philip Thase at 905-895-1281.
