Watershed Conditions Statement - Flood Outlook

The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority advises that that the Surface Water Monitoring Centre of the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry is forecasting a large, slow-moving frontal system to enter the Lake Simcoe watershed tonight and through tomorrow. The front is expected to bring widespread rainfall into the watershed, with 40- 60mm expected before Thursday, and the possibility of embedded thunderstorms contributing an additional 10-20mm. Unsettled weather conditions are expected to follow the passage of the front into Saturday and could contribute even more rainfall.

The forecasted rainfall may result in flooding of low lying areas. All watercourses in our area will experience higher than normal water levels and flows. As a result, local streams and rivers will become dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts and bridges. Children should be warned to stay away from all watercourses.

This Watershed Conditions Statement will be in effect through Friday, Sept. 24, 2021.
