Watershed conditions statement - water safety

The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority advises that Environment Canada has released a special weather statement forecasting a cold front moving in from the west bringing showers and occasional thunderstorms. The current forecast suggests between 25 – 50mm of rainfall is possible between tonight and through Tuesday, with locally higher amounts in areas that receive thunderstorms. However, there is some uncertainty with the track and timing of this cold front that will move across the area, therefore timing and total rainfall amounts could change.

Widespread flooding of the Lake Simcoe watershed is not expected. However, all watercourses in our area may experience higher than normal water levels and flows. As a result, local streams and rivers will become dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts and bridges. Children should be warned to stay away from all watercourses.

This watershed conditions statement will be in effect through Wednesday, June 8, 2022.
