What’s happening in November in Georgina

Remembrance Day services

Lest we forget. A Remembrance Day service will be held on Sunday Nov. 5, 2023 at 3:30 p.m. at the Pefferlaw Lions Community Centre, 38 Pete's Lane. Everyone is invited to attend the Remembrance Day ceremonies held at the cenotaphs in Keswick and Sutton on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.

Be a Santa to a Senior

This holiday season become Santa to a Senior. Your contribution will help provide a Christmas gift to each resident at the Cedarvale Lodge and River Glen Haven Retirement and Care homes. Watch for Christmas Wish Tags at Canadian Tire (Keswick), Giant Tiger (Sutton), Shoppers Drug Mart (Keswick) and Shoppers Drug Mart (Sutton) between Nov. 12 and Dec. 10. Select a tag, shop for a gift and deliver it to the same location or another of the above-listed locations. Do not wrap or sign the gift.

Food for Swim Holiday Food Drive

Donate to a good cause and swim for free. The Food for Swim Holiday Food Drive takes place on Nov. 16. Bring two non-perishable food items to the public swim at the Georgina Leisure Pool between 6:45 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. and you swim free. All donations go to the Georgina Food Pantry. Wristband policy applies.

Keswick Santa Claus Parade

The unofficial kick off to the holiday season is the Keswick Santa Claus Parade on Nov. 18. Organized by the Georgina Kinsmen, it starts at 1:30 p.m. at Woodbine Avenue and Dovedale Drive. The parade continues north up Woodbine Avenue ending at Wexford Drive. Visit georgina.ca/events to register your float.

Weddings in Georgina

Are you or someone you know planning a wedding? Look no further than Georgina. Join us on Nov. 20 for Weddings in Georgina. Learn about our municipal wedding services, including licences, officiants and reception halls. Opportunity Bridal will also be joining us to make your day even more special. You don’t want to miss this one-day only pop-up bridal sale, selling only new wedding dresses and accessories (veils, belts, tiaras, etc.) for the bride. Admission is free, no appointment or tickets necessary.

The Link Winter Market

The Link Winter Market is back. Join us on Sunday, Nov. 26 and Sunday, Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and enjoy this popular one-of-a-kind shopping experience right in the heart of Georgina. Find gifts and treasures from local artisans, chefs, farmers and more. A great Sunday outing including live music, food demos and more.

Old Fashioned Christmas and Festival of Lights

Step back in time on Nov. 25 to enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of an Old Fashioned Christmas at Georgina Pioneer Village. Experience the enchantment of a traditional 19th century Christmas with festive twinkle lights, a meet and greet with Santa, a sing-a-long with the Mayor and Members of Council, and free hot chocolate and cookies. Admission is $1 for anyone 15 and under, and $2 for anyone aged 16+. The festivities continue with the Festival of Lights. The kick off is at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 25 and the lights will continue to shine until Jan. 2, 2024. For more information visit georgina.ca/events.

Sutton Santa Claus Parade of Lights

On Dec. 2, Santa arrives in Sutton for the annual Santa Claus Parade of Lights. Beginning at 5 p.m. in Jackson’s Point, the parade travels down Dalton Road to High Street, then along High Street ending at the fairgrounds. Register your float today at georgina.ca/events.
