Authority
Under Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), private and not-for-profit organizations with 50 or more employees must create a multi-year accessibility plan and accessibility policies.
Objectives
The Town of Georgina Multi-Year Accessibility Plan provides the opportunity to demonstrate current achievements and establish future priorities. Objectives identified within the plan are both long and short-term; many projects are ongoing and could require implementation over several years.
Implementation
Realizing our accessibility goals throughout Georgina occurs in a variety of ways. Through recommendations to Council from the Georgina Accessibility Advisory Committee (GAAC), partnerships with external stakeholders, collaborations between departments and public consultation, we are consistently striving to achieve those goals towards a barrier-free municipality.
