The Town of Georgina, through a bylaw, has established three Business Improvement Areas and Boards of Management respectively. The Boards of Management oversee the improvement, beautification and maintenance of municipally-owned land, buildings and structures and to promote the area as a business or shopping area.
The Municipal Act S.O. 2001, Chapter 25 provides that a local municipality may designate, through a bylaw, an area as an improvement area and may establish a board of management to oversee the improvement, beautification and maintenance of municipally-owned land, buildings and structures in the area beyond that which is provided at the expense of the municipality, and to promote the area as a business or shopping area.
Georgina’s three BIAs are:
- Uptown Keswick Business Improvement Association (BIA)
- Downtown Sutton Merchant's Association (BIA)
- Jackson's Point Village Association (BIA)
