Summer fun continues in Georgina

There are plenty of activities and events for the entire family to enjoy in Georgina. From movies and water play to the Field to Table event and skateparks, August is going to be fun!

Pan African Flag Festival
Celebrate diversity and unity at the Georgina Pan-African Flag Festival: Pan African Pulse. Join us at the ROC on Aug. 1 to celebrate Emancipation Day and a more inclusive Georgina. A flag raising will take place at the Civic Centre at 6 p.m. followed by refreshments and entertainment at the ROC from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. 

Splash pads open daily 
Beat the heat by visiting the four splash pad locations at the ROC, Const. Garrett Styles Park, Whipper Watson Park and Julia Munro Park. All are open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Local beaches and parks are another great way to cool off. Remember your resident parking pass and get there early.

Starlight Cinema Nights
Join us under the stars this summer for a free movie. Starlight Cinema Night is back and bigger than ever with five dates at different locations throughout Georgina. Bring your own comfy lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a movie in the great outdoors. Visit georgina.ca/StarlightCinema for a list of the movies being presented.

Georgina’s Field to Table Event
Join us on Saturday, Aug. 17 for the seventh annual Field to Table Event in celebration of 201 years of local agriculture. Here’s your opportunity to visit some of the area’s biggest and most diverse farms. The day includes self-guided tours between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. where visitors will enjoy samples and various educational experiences. 

Stephen Leacock Theatre of Performing Arts
Tickets for the Stephen Leacock Theatre of Performing Arts 2024/2025 season are on sale. Purchase tickets on TIXHUB. There is an exciting lineup of shows including David Wilcox, 54∙40, Jully Black and more. Visit georgina.ca/SLT to see the full lineup of fantastic performances.

Pump tracks and skateparks
Whether you're a seasoned skater, bike rider or just starting out, the Town’s parks offer a variety of ramps, rails and open spaces for all skill levels. The Pefferlaw Pump Track and Skatepark is the newest amenity and was designed for bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, scooters and other wheeled sports equipment. Summer at the ROC
The ROC is York Region’s adventure headquarters. Explore the bike trails, high and low ropes course, rock climbing wall, zipline, volleyball courts, splash pad and more. With camps, programs and drop-in sessions happening all season. Find your adventure at georginaroc.ca.

Curbside Giveaway
The next Curbside Giveaway day is Saturday, Aug. 24. Place unwanted items at the curb from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for other residents to take free of charge. Let’s keep usable items out of landfill! 

Annual Georgina Mayor’s Charity Motorcycle Ride and Poker Run 
Mark your calendar for the Georgina Mayor’s Charity Motorcycle Ride and Poker Run benefiting Sutton Legion Branch #356, on Saturday, Sept. 7. The ride begins at the ROC Chalet. Registration starts at 9 a.m. with coffee, tea and muffins. “Kickstands up” is at 10 a.m. followed by a four-hour scenic tour ending at the Sutton Legion with a barbecue, prizes and silent auction.
