The Town has lowered its flags to honour former Fire Chief Bill O’Neill who recently passed away. Chief O’Neill joined the Georgina Fire Department on Oct. 1, 1980, and was hired as a career firefighter on March 30, 1987. He was promoted to the position of Fire Prevention Officer in 1990 and became Deputy Fire Chief in 1998.
On Sept. 1, 2001, he was appointed the Fire Chief of Georgina Fire until his retirement on Dec. 31, 2012. Chief O’Neill served the community with pride and dedication for more than 32 years.
