Pefferlaw Ice Pad (PIP)

The PIP is open for the winter season.

Unsupervised and use at own risk

This outdoor skating facility is located in Pefferlaw (36 Pete's Lane). It is an 80' x 180' open-air facility with hockey boards and a roof. This is an unsupervised ice pad and is considered use at your own risk. Pre-registration is not required for this outdoor facility. No admission charge.

Program Descriptions

Parent and tot

Skating is fun and great exercise for you and your tot. Teach them the basics and fundamental skating skills they need to be confident on the ice. Geared toward children five years of age and under and their parents/caregivers. CSA-approved helmets are strongly recommended. No sticks, pucks, chairs, strollers or sleds are permitted on the ice surface. Learn-to-skate aids are permitted but not provided (must be CSA approved). All participants must wear skates.

Public skate 

Public skating provides a relaxed skate for all ages. This is a great way to spend time with family and friends while staying physically active. CSA-approved helmets are strongly recommended. All participants must wear skates. No sticks, pucks, chairs, strollers or sleds are permitted on the ice surface. Learn-to-skate aids are not permitted. All participants must wear skates. 

Family sticks and pucks (13 years and under) 

Family Sticks and Pucks provides a learning environment for families to improve skating, stick handling, puck control, passing, and other skating/hockey related skills.  At least one adult is required to be on the ice surface for each group of five (up to six people total). All participants must wear a CSA approved helmet. Participants under 18 years of age must wear a full cage. Hockey gloves are highly recommended. Skill building is encouraged; organized hockey game play, drills and use of pylons are not permitted. Please share the ice fairly, no slap shots.

Shinny hockey 

A competitive but friendly fast-paced session for all hockey lovers looking for some ice time. Open to both novice and experienced players alike. Aggressive play will not be tolerated. Full hockey equipment required.

This facility is maintained by the Town of Georgina and is unsupervised, use at your own risk. 

  1. Times and activities posted must be followed. 
  2. Rink maintenance will be completed throughout the day. Please be courteous when asked to leave the ice surface. 
  3. This facility closes nightly at 10 pm.
  4. Be respectful and courteous of each other. 
  5. Horseplay and/or tag are not permitted. 
  6. Food and/or drink are not permitted on the ice surface. 
  7. No alcohol, vaping, tobacco or cannabis allowed onsite. 
  8. Pucks and sticks are prohibited for all activities excluding shinny hockey and family sticks and pucks programming. 
  9. Skates must be worn for all winter activities. 
  10. No shoes or boots are permitted on the ice surface.
  11. CSA approved helmets and protective equipment are strongly recommended for all activities and mandatory for Shinny Hockey. 
  12. All ice times are weather permitting and may be cancelled without notice.

Pefferlaw Sports Zone

The Pefferlaw Sports Zone is now closed for the season.
 

Pickle ball players

The Pefferlaw Sports Zone will reopen for the season in May of 2025 and features a number of amenities including a basketball court, one multi-use court and two pickleball courts.

Unsupervised and use at own risk. If rules and etiquette of play are not followed, the Town will close this amenity.

Sports Zone rules of play

This facility is maintained by the Town of Georgina. The facility is unsupervised, use at your own risk. 

  1. Times and activities posted must be followed. 
  2. This facility closes nightly at 10 pm. 
  3. Skateboards, bicycles or motorized vehicles are not permitted on the courts. 
  4. Food and/or glass bottles are not permitted on the courts. 
  5. Pets are not permitted on courts. 
  6. No Alcohol, Tobacco or Cannabis allowed onsite. 
  7. No profanity. 
  8. No hanging on basketball rims 
  9. Proper footwear is required. 
  10. Be respectful and courteous of each other. 
  11. Nets and equipment shall remain in good working conditions. Any damages must be reported immediately to 905-476-4301.

The Pefferlaw pump track and skatepark are now open to the public. Check it out at 38 Pete's Lane, Pefferlaw.
