On Jan. 11, 2023, it was approved by Council to create the Georgina Appeals Committee, which will be handling all public appeals, including Aggressive/Dangerous Dogs, Property Standards, Business Licensing and Short Term Rental Accommodation appeals.
Aggressive/Dangerous Dogs
This Committee will hear appeals from owners of dogs. The dogs in question must have been designated by the Manager of Municipal Law Enforcement under Bylaw No. 2008-0138 (REG-1) as aggressive or as dangerous dogs.
Property Standards
This Committee will hear appeals from the owner or occupant of a property in Georgina, if they are unsatisfied with the terms or conditions of an order served by a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer.
Licensing Appeals
This Committee will hear appeals made by businesses who dispute the decision of the Licensing Coordinator with respect to a business licence.
Short-Term Rental Accommodations
This Committee will hear appeals in relation to a decision of the Licensing Coordinator to
- refuse to issue or renew a licence
- revoke a Short-Term Rental Accommodation licence
- hear Short-Term Rental Accommodation licence variance requests
