    York Region opening mass vaccination clinic in Newmarket and extending hours at Georgina Ice Palace

    The Regional Municipality of York is opening a new mass vaccination clinic at the Newmarket Community Centre located at 200 Doug Duncan Drive in the Town of Newmarket and will release approximately 14,600 appointments for COVID-19 vaccination across all clinics, including this new location, for the following priority groups:

    • Booster doses for eligible individuals age 50+ (born 1971 or earlier) at least three months (84 days) after receipt of a second dose

    • First and second-dose vaccinations for all eligible individuals five years of age and older

    COVID-19 vaccine information

    The province has announced that, beginning Monday, Dec. 20, everyone aged 18+ will be eligible for COVID-19 booster appointments at the three-month interval.

    Council resolution on proposed general aviation aerodrome

    A Special Council meeting was held on Dec. 15 to discuss the proposed general aviation aerodrome. Council received a briefing note on the proposed aerodrome planned for 7818 and 7486 Old Homestead Rd.

    Holiday hours and waste collection information

    The Georgina Civic Centre remains closed to the public. Customer service will be limited from Dec. 20 to Jan. 3, 2022 inclusive, with regular service resuming Jan. 4.

    For emergencies about animal control, roads, water or wastewater, call 905-476-4301 and follow the prompts to reach on-call services. For Municipal Law Enforcement, call 905-476-4301, ext. 2281. If the call goes to voicemail, leave a message and an officer will investigate.

    2022 Waste and recycling calendar delivered in Dec. 23 Georgina Advocate

    It’s the Town’s holiday gift to you.

    The 2022 Waste and Recycling Calendar will be delivered in the Dec. 23 edition of the Georgina Advocate.

    As of Dec. 23, residents can also pick up a copy of the calendar at Georgina Public Library (Keswick, Pefferlaw and Sutton branches) or view and download a copy online on the waste and recycling collection schedule webpage.

    Town appoints new Deputy CAO

    The Town of Georgina is pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Wheater as Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)/Treasurer, effective immediately.

    “Mr. Wheater brings significant leadership strengths and a strong history of delivering results to this position,” said Ryan Cronsberry, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). “He is a well-respected member of the senior leadership team and will work with me to ensure accountability relating to the delivery of Council priorities, and financial and staff management.”
