    Georgina Council approves 2022 budget with zero per cent operating tax increase

    Council has approved the 2022 budget, which was developed with a commitment to ensuring the Town can continue to provide a high level of service to residents while minimizing the impact of tax increases. It includes a zero per cent operating tax increase. There is an additional infrastructure levy of one per cent for capital reserves for a total increase of one per cent. This translates into an estimated property tax increase of $21 a year for an average home (non-waterfront) with an assessed value of $402,995.

    Town holds official ribbon cutting of rainbow Pride crosswalk

    The Town of Georgina held the official ribbon cutting of the rainbow Pride crosswalk today. Located in the uptown Keswick Business Improvement Area at Simcoe Avenue and the Queensway South, it is the second in a series of symbolic crosswalks the Town is planning throughout the community.

    Long-time employee appointed new CAO

    The Town of Georgina is pleased to announce the appointment of Ryan Cronsberry to the position of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Mr. Cronsberry replaces Dave Reddon who retired from the Town in October. Mr. Cronsberry has been with the Town of Georgina since 1998 progressing through various roles within the organization.

    Proposed general aviation aerodrome

    Recently, the Town became aware of a proposed general aviation aerodrome to be located at 7486/7818 Old Homestead Rd. as a result of a sign posting at that address.

    On March 29, 2022 the proponent submitted a final report to the Minister of Transport. 

    The Town has prepared a statement of facts.

    Georgina wins three MarCom awards for Communications and Economic Development

    The Town of Georgina has captured three more MarCom Awards after the Economic Development and Tourism Division won a platinum award for the Grown in Georgina campaign, and the Communications Division won gold for its Georgina Fire and Rescue Services video. The platinum and gold awards are presented to entries that have exceeded the highest standards of the industry norm. The Communications Division also received an honourable mention for the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation video.

    Proposed Aerodrome

    The Town is working to obtain additional information surrounding the proposed Aerodrome on Old Homestead Road between Stoney Batter and Weir’s Sideroad. As the Town does not process applications of this nature, we are working with M.P. Scot Davidson as this falls under the federal approval process. We are looking to have our collective questions answered and hope to be able to share an update soon.

    Winter is coming and Georgina is ready for snow

    Bring on the snow. The Town of Georgina is ready to tackle winter weather by managing snow and ice on the streets and sidewalks.

    The Winter Control Guide outlines everything the Town does for winter maintenance from plowing and salting roads to clearing sidewalks and monitoring the weather. It can be found at georgina.ca/snow.
