    Groundbreaking ceremony for new Multi-Use Recreation Complex

    The Town of Georgina held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Multi-Use Recreation Complex (MURC) – the largest project in its history. Mayor Margaret Quirk, Members of Council, dignitaries and Town staff gathered at the site on the west side of Woodbine Avenue between Glenwoods Avenue and Ravenshoe Road for the sod-turning event.

    Sewer flushing in Georgina this fall

    The Water Division has started the annual sewer maintenance in order to prevent blockages and sewer backups. Sewer flushing is taking place in south Keswick between Ravenshoe Road and Old Homestead this fall. The crew is taking every precaution possible to avoid any inconvenience but occasional toilet splashes may occur in locations with deficient plumbing. Ensure toilet lids are kept closed when not in use.

    Province expands eligibility for booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine

    The Government of Ontario has announced expanded eligibility for booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, effective Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021.

    Based on the recommendation of the Chief Medical Officer of Health and in alignment with the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) recent recommendation, the province will begin offering booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to the following vulnerable populations if at least six months have passed since their last dose:

    Town of Georgina releases 2022 draft budget

    Council today received the 2022 draft budget which proposes a zero per cent tax increase, with an option to provide an additional one per cent for capital reserves, for a total increase of one per cent. The Town is able to provide a zero per cent operating increase in 2022 due to an above-average surplus being forecast for fiscal 2021.

    CAO David Reddon retires

     

    The Town of Georgina Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), David Reddon has announced that he will retire from the Town of Georgina effective immediately. Mr. Reddon has been the CAO since 2019. Dave began his career with the Town of Georgina in 1981 and has fulfilled various roles throughout his career for the organization.
