In partnership with the York Support Services Network and Children’s Treatment Network, the Town strives to make all of its programs as inclusive as possible to better serve children, youth, adults and seniors with special needs. The Town also has a Georgina Accessibility Advisory Committee which works to enhance efforts to make the Town accessible for everyone.
Inclusion support
If an individual requires support to participate in recreation activities, a caregiver or volunteer is admitted to the program at no charge. Arrangements for one on one support staff is based on individual application and availability of screened and trained inclusion staff/volunteers.

Registered adapted swim programs
Registered programs are run seasonally and offered at various times and dates. Registration is mandatory and available through the Town's online portal.
The Lifesaving Swim - Integrated Adapted program (with 1:1 support) facilitates our original Swim Adapted program and runs alongside group lessons.
Swim-for-life for swimmers with disabilities continues the progressions used in the Lifesaving Swim Preschool and Swimmer programs. Each skill is broken down into small manageable steps to create a positive learning environment and make the success of each swimmer more achievable. These steps have been created to help swimmers learn at their own pace using repetition and integration of new skills, which help swimmers move along the skill progression more effectively.
An Adapted Membership is required.
Please contact the pool 905-722-1429 for an application.
Ages: 3yrs +

Inclusion Support for Day Camps
The Town of Georgina offers inclusion opportunities when possible at our day camps. Integration support opportunities and inclusion support staff may be available. All individuals seeking support are required to complete an inclusion and integration package and provide an IEP (individualized education plan) and Safety Plan (if applicable). A pre-camp meeting will be booked to discuss individual interests and accommodations. When additional support is required, families may provide their own independent worker or request a Georgina Camp Inclusion Counsellor. All attempts will be made to accommodate requests for additional support; however, due to the number of requests for additional support or the level of care required, support cannot be guaranteed; we ask that you submit your request no later than May 1 to inclusion@georgina.ca.
Become a program buddy!
Are you interested in making a difference in the life of a child or adult with special needs? If so, contact 905-476-4301 or inclusion@georgina.ca. All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application and interview.
