Black History Month was officially recognized in Canada after a motion was introduced by the Honourable Jean Augustine, the first Black Canadian woman elected to Parliament. This February, learn more about Black history in Canada.
The Town of Georgina recognizes and celebrates the month of February as ‘Black History Month’. This is an opportunity to recognize the legacy of black Canadians, and to celebrate and commemorate the legacy, history and achievements black Canadians have made and continue to make in our community and country.
