How do you get a street name considered?

  1. Suggest a name: Write a letter or email or fill out the online form proposing the street name. Provide an explanation of the personal, historical, cultural, First Nations or social significance or contributions associated with the Town of Georgina for the name.

  1. Obtain consent: If the suggested name is in honour of an individual, event or an organization, written documentation must be included providing consent from the nominee, the nominee’s family, estate, or representative. Include the name, signature and contact information for the nominee, or complete and submit the consent form here
    Note, an individual’s name shall not be assigned to a street during their lifetime. 
  2. Send it in via email to:  streetnames@georgina.ca
  3. What's next: All names will be reviewed by the Street Name Review Working Group according to the street naming policies of the Town. These policies are intended to limit confusion with street names in an emergency situation. Council will make the final decision on adding proposed street names to the inventory of available street names.
