The official results of the 2022 Municipal Election in the Town of Georgina are now available. The official results have been certified by the Town Clerk.

Voter turnout for the 2022 Municipal Election in Georgina was 27.23 per cent, up from 26.73 per cent in 2018. The number of ballots cast was 10,043 up from 9,047. The Town used online voting for the first time and a total of 4,853 were cast online.

The Town is developing the 2023 budget and wants to hear from you. Georgina passes a budget every year to determine how funds are given out throughout the community. Tax dollars go towards a variety of programs and services which your family relies on and uses every day – from snow clearing and waste collection to road work and recreation programs.

In 2023, property tax increases will be impacted by rising inflation, economic volatility and the increasing costs of infrastructure.

It’s Election Day in Georgina. Voting will be in person only from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can vote at any of the following locations:

Georgina’s business park is one step closer to becoming a reality. Panattoni Development Company has broken ground on its newest business park at the northeast corner of Woodbine Avenue and Glenwoods Avenue in the Town of Georgina. It is one of the largest business park developments within a one-hour drive from major urban centres in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and the largest development in Georgina’s history.

There is just one week before Election Day on Oct. 24. However, you can still vote early. The Town is using online voting, along with tabulators, for the election.

The final advance voting day is Oct. 19 from noon to 8 p.m.

Online voting is available until Sunday, Oct. 23 at noon. All voters should have received a personalized Voter Information Letter in the mail. It contains a Voting PIN (Personal Identification Number) along with the website to access the online ballot and information about in-person voting.

Election Day – Oct. 24

It has come to the Town’s attention that some voters in the upcoming municipal election have received more than one Voter Information Letter (VIL). Municipalities receive their voters lists from the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC), and due to an issue in transferring the MPAC data to those lists, some Ontario residents, including some in Georgina, have received two VIL’s. While this is not unique in the municipal election process, there may be a greater number of these occurrences in this election.

Georgina Fire and Rescue Services is taking part in the #KnowExactlyWhere safety campaign from Oct. 3 to Oct. 9 to raise awareness of the free what3words app and how it can be used in an emergency. The what3words app offers a simple way to communicate a very precise location.

The Civic Centre and Town facilities will be closed on Friday, Sept. 30 as the Town observes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Georgina Public Library branches will remain open.
