    Crack sealing road repairs scheduled for Aug. 27

    Crack sealing road repairs will be taking place on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on a number of  streets in the Keswick area. They include Bayview Avenue, Lowndes Avenue, Rainbow Court, Bambi Crescent, Dovedale Drive, Wrendale Crescent and Tim Jacobs Drive.

    Town staff will be onsite while the work is being completed. Signs will also be in place in the affected area.

    Town of Georgina 2022 municipal election certified candidates

    The Town of Georgina has released the List of Certified Candidates for Council and the List of Certified School Board Trustee Candidates for the municipal election on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022.

    The official lists has been posted on the bulletin boards outside the Clerks Division at the Civic Centre and on the Town’s website. It will appear in the Georgina Advocate on Thursday, Sept. 1.

    Queensway South remains closed due to watermain break

    Crews remain on the scene of a watermain break on the Queensway South in Keswick.

    A full closure remains in place on the Queensway South from Hollywood Drive to Annshiela Drive. It is expected the road will reopen late this afternoon, Monday, Aug. 15.

    Crews are working on a watermain break on Queensway South, Keswick. This is impacting traffic in the area of Tampa Dr. and Annshiela Dr.  We are working to have services restored as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

    Sean Walker meet and greet cancelled

    Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Sean Walker meet and greet at the Georgina Ice Palace on Wednesday, Aug. 3, has unfortunately been cancelled. We look forward to celebrating Sean at a later date when he is back in Town.

    The free public skate at the Ice Palace will go ahead as scheduled tomorrow. Pre-registration is required to skate.

    Heat warning in effect for Georgina

    The heat is on. Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Georgina and all of York Region. Daytime high temperatures reaching near 31 degrees Celsius with humidex values in the upper thirties are expected today and tomorrow.

    Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high-risk category. The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

    Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

    Lap pool closed at Georgina Leisure Pool

    The lap pool at the Georgina Leisure Pool will be closed today, July 19, until 5 p.m.

    Registered participants will be contacted about the closure.

    The beach and therapy pool programs are still running today.
