Overview
The Town of Georgina operates two public water taps for residential use.
Water Tap Locations:
- The first water tap is located on Black River Road, 100m east of Park Road.
- A second water tap is located at the Sutton Arena (48 Hawkins St., Sutton), just south of the main doors.
Residential public water taps are intended for small-volume users and are not outfitted for large-volume dispensing. This tap location monitored by staff and security cameras.
History
The Town of Georgina closed three of its four public water taps the week of Oct. 18, 2021. The taps were closed due to concerns related to potential backflow and contamination from commercial users who are not permitted to use the taps. Both residents and staff have reported concerns. The taps were unmetered and uncontrolled, and there was potential for contamination of the system through backflow of non-potable water, a public safety concern. Keys
Keys are no longer required for the public water tap.
Clients who previously left a deposit and who wish to return their key can do so with Service Georgina at the Civic Centre from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Large volumes of water
Important Notice to Residents and Contractors: We are pleased to announce that the Bulk Water Station will undergo a replacement in the coming months to enhance access and service for all users.
Replacement Timeline:
Expected Start: November/December (exact date to be confirmed)
Service Impact:
The station will be temporarily closed during the replacement. We will communicate further details as soon as a firm date is established.
New System Features:
The updated station will utilize a cloud-based system, requiring users to create an online account for remote access.
Large volumes of water may be purchased from the Town and the supply is via the Bulk Water Station for any amounts more than 100 litres.
Pre-paid cards are required of $100 to fill at the Bulk Water Station located at the Water/Wastewater Yard. These prepaid cards can be purchased over the phone or in person through Service Georgina at 905-476-4301, ext. 3001 and can be picked up at the Civic Centre.
The cost of water at the bulk filling station is as per the existing Water Rates By-law.
